Sorry if I am dense here, but is your suggestion that I try to use this
patch ---which modifies ManageHelpers and BSP--- so that I can use
Layout.Minimize instead of Layout.Hiding?

(And you say X.U.Minimize; shouldn't it be X.Layout Minimize?)
