I can't reproduce it (even with config attached) on my xmonad.
I believe this is really was fixed by Andrea's patches, but they could 
happen not to
be applied.
Unfortunately, I have no time to investigate this further, but if 
someone is
interested and has enough time -- look at the mailing list. I can post my 'darcs
changes' so you could look for the missing patches.
