Did you try to reproduce this issue by running unclutter with the grab option?
unclutter -grab

It seems to me that this report is a duplicate of this:
http://code.google.com/p/xmonad/issues/detail?id=45&can=1
which is not a XMonad bug, but an unclutter's one.
