A further linguistic note: the informal spoken dialect of modern
Hebrew (the L of the modern Hebrew diglossia) does not have schwa.
It has a simple five-vowel system with a few diphthongs. So
in spoken Hebrew, the pronunciation of the first vowel is
closest to the sound "eh" in English.
