across as impatient every now and then. I guess I was. ;-)
The implementation we have is imperfect for a number of
reasons and it comes with a subtle trap or two, but I feel
that having this imperfect function available is a
significant step forward for many users, particularly for
those who are interested in network applications. I feel
that part of the reason why it was so difficult to reach
consensus on this function is because so many people are
interested in it.
