Could you try changing the definition of Map from

data Map k a  = Tip 
              | Bin !Size !k a !(Map k a) !(Map k a) 

to

data Map k a  = Tip 
              | Bin {-# UNPACK #-} !Size !k a !(Map k a) !(Map k a) 

and see if that helps?
