This one is tricky due to the fact that (:) is very special.  I think  
various Haskell implementations differ on exactly how this is  
handled.  I don't know enough about Hugs to say for sure.

Yes.  You want the 'hiding' keyword, eg,

import Prelude hiding (foo, bar, baz)
