Well, yes 20+ years ago, Haskellers were a much smaller community;
'haskell' was the only list. If you want to understand the discussions
around the 1998 standard for example, that's the place to look.
'haskell-cafe' has been going for at least most of that 20 years, and is
the place for more free-flowing discussion. Increasingly, 'haskell' is
restricted to low-volume announcements/not discussion. I'm surprised you
hadn't noticed.
