With facebook pages (as opposed to groups), you can send slightly more
instrusive messages. By default, you should receive an email to your
email address when you are invited to an event. Facebook pages also
allow you to publish stories that show up in your story feed, or show
up in your facebook inbox as an unread message. This is one reason why
I recommended a page over a group.

If they add RSS feeds, that would make things even nicer.
