hsffig is old enough you should probably be using the latest, from Darcs (although the last patch is still from February 2006): <http://www.golubovsky.org/repos/hsffig-1.1>. I got a little further by running make and then modifying the build-depends:

Which leads to a bunch of build errors:

Oh dear. I suppose one might want to ask the hsffig devs whether they will update hsffig / trouble-shoot this, or if hsffig is even still worth using (perhaps it was meant to occupy a niche since filled).
