Comment:

 the Cabal submodule was updated to 1.22.1.0 (via
 00c971ef9dbd16e2201df3ac63f2a68c4b9c0ff0) and subsequently again to
 1.22.1.1 (via fdb72839fbefc439ac729e01fcb98fa6bd6511cc) in GHC HEAD as
 well as ghc-7.10. Therefore I assume this issue is resolved...
