external interpreter failing on Mac

Hi devs,

It seems every test run through the external interpreter is failing for me on a Mac:

*** unexpected failure for TH_mkName(ext-interp)

Any advice? My most recent commit from master is ef07010cf4f480d9f595a71cf5b009884522a75e from Wed Jun 7.

I'm on IRC today if you want to iterate that way.
