Okay, I can reproduce this with gnome-terminal.  But with xterm and urxvt  
the window
is simply resized to be larger than the screen, so it seems like mostly a  
bug in
gnome-terminal.  But as a workaround I've pushed a patch to cap the window  
resizing
at the height of the screen (which doesn't really hurt anything) which  
seems to fix
the problem.
