I apologize if this is not not the appropriate venue for such a request...

I think it would be great to have an extension that can set a
user-configurable padding between both the screen edges as well as clients,
giving the appearance that the tiled clients were floating on top of the
desktop.

For example, assuming the padding was set to something like 40px, it would
look something like this:
