Ian, thanks for supplying some code to demonstrate this bug.  We have
had a couple of reports of seg faults in profiled code, but for
various reasons (including commercial confidentiality) no-one has
yet been able to supply us with an example of the problem in action.
Hopefully, we'll now be able to track this one down.
