| Just avoid the Options dialog (use :set instead).

It is very nearly nine years ago since I distributed the first public
version of Hugs on February 14, 1995.

I appeal to the current developer/maintainer team to use the impending
ninth anniversary as an excuse to post a new distribution that, if
nothing more, fixes this bug.

The advice above is reasonable but unrealistic. Until a new version
is released, new users will continue to be frustrated as they hit this
problem, and existing users will continue to be frustrated by the slow
but steady stream of bug reports. None of this does anything to enhance
the reputation of Hugs or Haskell.

If for some reason you really can't make up a new version now, then,
as a (hopefully) short term fix, please reinstate the previous release
as the recommended download on the Hugs web pages.

Thank you.

Mark
