Hmmm, in a flash of inspiration, I realised that maybe the RPM package
format and tools have had a new release. (The "major version number"
in the error message must mean the RPM-version, not the Hugs version.)
In this case I would expect an old RPM (e.g. built on RedHat 6.2)
to unpack cleanly with either of the new or old RPM tools, but an RPM
using the new format to unpack only with the new tool.

So until RedHat 7 becomes more widespread, it should be sufficient to
supply a single old-format RPM?
