Once - just once - I did take a look at the C output from GHC. Now, I 
realise that I can't code in C to save my life, but... it didn't even 
*look* like C. Even slightly. Wow.

(OTOH, reading Core isn't too helpful either. It just looks like the 
original Haskell...)
