The -B is used from a ghc shell script to identify where the rest of the GHC 
installation resides. An example with a GHC 6.8.2 installed in 
$HOME/tn/install/ghc-6.8.2:

> tn at linux:~> cat tn/install/ghc-6.8.2/bin/ghc
> #!/bin/sh
> GHCBIN=/home/tn/tn/install/ghc-6.8.2/lib/ghc-6.8.2/ghc-6.8.2

There is likely some designation for this option that I cannot recall. If it 
is documented anywhere, I haven't noticed.
