Comment:

 With the above patch it now fails to compile on powerpc. Error is:

 compiler/nativeGen/X86/Regs.hs:407:10:
     The type signature for `freeRegBase' lacks an accompanying binding
 }}}

 Currently testing a patch to fix it.
