Comment(by maeder):

 The ghc linker message is normal since the module's name is not Main and
 there's no main function (of type IO ()).

 The curly braces around the module body are unusual but it works to add
 something before the final closing "}" if the instance definitions after
 the second "where" are also put in curly braces.
