 I agree. Since {{{(++)}}} is {{{mappend}}} for a specific type, it makes
 much sense to just generalize {{{(++)}}} to work with arbitrary
 {{{Monoid}}} instances. There is also a poll about this topic which has a
 strong bias to making {{{(++)}}} the new {{{mappend}}}:
