 Thread 2 is the I/O manager, so you can see what it is up to in
 !ThreadScope.  You can generate events from Haskell code using
 `GHC.Exts.traceEvent`, although they only show up in the "Events" tab in
 !ThreadScope currently, not in the timeline view.
