 Underlying this panic was apparently really a kind error, involving the
 existential constructor `Tool` that had been defined by

 {{{
 data Tool = forall a r . (Typeable1 r, ToolC r a) => Tool a
   deriving Typeable
 }}}

 and is now defined by

 {{{
 data Tool d = forall a r . (Typeable1 r, ToolC d r a) => Tool a
   deriving Typeable
 }}}

 in a context of a record field that still had type `Tool` (kind error) ---
 the .lhs-boot file had only

 {{{
 data Tool
 }}}
