Comment (by thorkilnaur):

As mentioned earlier, searching for frameworks in $HOME/Library/Frameworks
is different from the behaviour of other Mac OS X tools like gcc and ld
in similar situations. It is not supported by the description of
frameworks in the Apple document referred to earlier. I believe that we
should refrain from explicitly introducing such incompatible behaviour.

For an example of the disadvantage that a user may experience, say that I
at some point install some framework in $HOME/Library/Frameworks to be
used in some other context than GHC. If this framework matches some
framework which is actually used by my Haskell code, but behaves
differently - it could be a different version - then I would experience
changed behaviour of my Haskell code. This is the sort of confusion that
may require real work to untangle.

So it is my recommandation that we do not introduce this change.

 Best regards
 Thorkil
