 The file `distrib/Makefile-bin-vars.in` needs to propagate the CPP program
 found by configure, by adding a line:

 {{{
 CPP         = @CPP@
 }}}

 Otherwise "cc -e" is called during installation instead of "gcc -e" (and
 "cc" does not exist under Solaris)
