ghc panic on compiling such a simple programme:

 module FPIC where
 foo = putStrLn "hello"
 -- end

 error message:
 ghc -fPIC -c fPIC.hs
 ghc-6.6.1: panic! (the 'impossible' happened)
   (GHC version 6.6.1 for x86_64-unknown-linux):
         initializePicBase
