I've installed Wolfgang Thaller's ghc 6.4 dmg on my G3 iBook running 
MacOSX 10.3.8.
ghci works fine, but attempting any compilation fails with the message:

/tmp/ghc441.s:1564:Unknown pseudo-op: .subsections_via_symbols
