 My wrappers for GCC have {{{--sysroot}}} option:

 --sysroot=/sysroots/powerpc64 "$@"

 exec /usr/local/bin/powerpc64-unknown-freebsd12.0-ld
 --sysroot=/sysroots/powerpc64 "$@"

 This should take care of {{{CFLAGS}}} and {{{LDFLAGS}}}.

 There are no {{{RUNPATH}}} or {{{RPATH}}} entries:
