 While investigating I came across http://blog.omega-prime.co.uk/2011/07/06
 /the-sad-state-of-symbol-aliases from Max Bolingbroke. Looks like linux
 does not support aliasing of an external symbol. That is sad. Need to re-
 check linker script definitions.
