 I tested with 8.4.2: it prints 0 in both cases. This seems inconsistent
 with the
 [http://downloads.haskell.org/~ghc/latest/docs/html/users_guide/glasgow_exts.html
 #extension-IncoherentInstances documented behaviour of incoherent
 instances]?
