 <blush/> "Mystery" resolved!: I had "BUILD_MAN=yes" instead of
 "BUILD_MAN=YES" in build.mk, doh.

 Of course it might be better not to care about case
 (eg build fails completely with HADDOCK_DOCS=yes).
