 I think that would be extremely helpful. Are you offering to help?!  It
 would be great if so.

 NB: there's already FAST/NORM/SLOW setting that is supposed to choose per-
 benchmarks configurations that take 1s/5s/20s or something vaguely like
 that.  Worth figuring out what this does.  The configs are doubtless way
 out of date.
