 I "fixed" (2), but that made some tests that were previously (just (1))
 passing fail. Maybe I misunderstood what it's supposed to do.

 With my fix for (1) currently these tests are failing when running the
 test suite with `EXTRA_HC_OPTS="-fstatic-argument-transformation -dcore-
 lint"`:
