 Actually, I realized now that the scope of the ticket is a bit wider --
 since it's regarding any compilation flag. It would be easy to extend
 `addForeignFile` to accept other flags, but I don't think is as critical
 (at least it isn't for my use cases). I'll leave the decision to bgamari.
