 goldfire, my previous statement claiming that there were only two
 callsites of `tcRepSplitTyConApp_maybe` was actually blatantly wrong. I
 neglected to consider the callsite in `tcSplitTyConApp_maybe`, which
 itself has dozens of sites. It seems like we really will need to have two
 variants of `tcRepSplitTyConApp_maybe`.
