 The {{{staticHello}}} binding is dropped during desugaring. More
 specifically, during a call to
 {{{
 simpleOptPgm :: DynFlags -> Module
              -> CoreProgram -> [CoreRule] -> [CoreVect]
              -> IO (CoreProgram, [CoreRule], [CoreVect])
 }}}
 I'm new to this code, so any insights are welcome.
