 Recognizing that this is a work in progress, if possible it would be nice
 to address some of the unicode issues noted in
 https://ghc.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/12550 as part of this change.  I'm
 happy to fix any remaining issues but will hold off until the patch is
 merged.
