 As it turns out there is already autoconf logic to disable to detect
 related Apple brokenness in `configure.ac` (#4013). That being said, it
 seems quite insufficient since, as related above, there's no reason to
 believe that the linker at `configure`-time is the same linker that will
 be used by the built compiler.
