Comment:

 I think we need to be more specific when we parse the host triple in
 `configure.ac` and introduce instruction set variants. Right now `powerpc`
 (`ArchPPC` in Haskell code) refers to a server (not embedded) PowerPC.
 Could you please attach the output of `./configure` to this ticket so we
 can fix architecture detection in `configure.ac`.

 The native code generator assumes a server PPC with FPU so your proposed
 fix would only be a first step to support e500 CPUs . That is where you
 see your second failure.

 I don't have access to e500 hardware but I could help with coaching and
 code reviews if you would like to add support for embedded PPCs. Meanwhile
 you could also build an unregisterised compiler.
