Comment:

 "Rework derivation of type representations for wired-in things" merged to
 `ghc-8.0` as 19dc3cb3a73f72d62bc758e73a1fb3fee5039185.

 There is, however, more to this story. Simon's removal of the
 `check_lifted` checks have uncovered some deeper issues. See #11465 for
 details.
