Comment (by mkarcher):

 rwbarton: The possibility to use a local extern function declaration to
 avoid the function pointer hack occurred to me, too. I don't know enough
 about ghc internals to determine whether it is viable. You might try to go
 without ghcFunPtr, if possible. Like generating

 {{{
 {
    extern W_ raiseExceptionHelper(void *, void *, void *);
    raiseExceptionHelper((void*)((W_)BaseReg, (void*)(W_)CurrentTSO,
 (void*)_c2z);;}
 }}}

 instead of

 {{{
 {
     W_ (*ghcFunPtr)(void *, void *, void *);
     ghcFunPtr = ((W_ (*)(void *, void *, void *))raiseExceptionHelper);
     _c2y = ghcFunPtr((void *)(W_)BaseReg, (void *)(W_)CurrentTSO, (void
 *)_c2z);;}
 }}}
