 Sorry, I wanted to get in on this, but I ended up locally reverting the
 patch that broke it. I can't make any promises about fixing it this week,
 as I have some responsibilities that take priority over this this week.
 I want to get this fixed, but with the 8.0.2 coming soon I want to set the
 expectations straight.

 Is revert an option here for 8.0.2? It looks like the patch caused a
 bigger problem than it fixed.
