 goldfire, I'd be okay with including this in 8.0.2 given that it certainly
 makes users lives easier. That being said, the merge isn't exactly
 straightforward. Would you like to try your hand at cherry-picking it onto
 `ghc-8.0`? If not I'll probably punt on it since there seems to be a
 number of non-trivial conflicts in `TcSimplify`.
