 I'm right now setting things in motion for #11026, and will have to update
 `stm` anyway;

 I'm a bit reluctant to upload a `stm` version too soon, in order to avoid
 publishing something to Hackage just to have it broken yet again as we're
 going to merge more stuff soon into GHC HEAD which has the risk of
 breaking `stm` again
