Comment (by erikd):

 This does not need `deriving Eq`. The following in `.ghci` is enough to
 trigger it:

 {{{
 data X = Y
 let eqX = \ a b -> case a of { Y -> case b of { Y -> True }}
 eqX Y Y
 }}}

 but none of the other obvious nullary contructors like:

 {{{
 True == True
 Nothing == Nothing
 }}}

 trigger it.
