Comment (by gidyn):

 If such a warning does actually break any builds, it will be immediately
 obvious why, and presumably easy to fix. The same cannot be said for
 someone trying to understand why GHC isn't behaving as expected because
 some flag silently undid the effect of an earlier flag.
