 darchon, aren't these both symptoms of the same Cabal bug? Namely that
 `-framework` isn't passed to GHC. It would be great if someone could track
 down why this is the case.

 While I don't believe ​https://github.com/haskell/cabal/issues/2689 is
 terribly related to the current issue, it would be great if someone could
 have a look at (or, even better, test)
 https://github.com/haskell/cabal/pull/2739, which fixes #2689.
