Comment:

 George Karachalias and Tom Schrijvers are busy building a cool new
 pattern-match checker for GHC.  We have an ICFP submission nearly
 finished; I'll put it up in a day or three.

 Once it's in, it could probably be adapted to do type families too, but
 it'd be a bit of work.
