 I have spent most of this afternoon writing up some thoughts about
 StaticPtr and serialisation.  Here is the result:

 I would be very interested in your thoughts. Special thanks to Neil
 Mitchell who put up with several hours of blather on the way home from
 ICFP.

 I did this by writing something new, rather than by editing
 [wiki:StaticPointers], because I didn't want to Utterly Rewrite the
 latter.  For now you can compare the two.  Ultimately we should combine
 them.
